The Release Date: 10/01/2013
The official Release Date for Dark Waters is 10/01/2013. That’s about 20 days away so that should be plenty of time for the album to show up in the major online retailers. It will be available in the Jerry Boutot Music Store prior to that (MP3’s only). I’ll be uploading the songs to ReverbNation and Jango Radio over the next few days.
Unboxing the CD Shipment
I received my shipment of Dark Waters CD’s. The first order I make for any CD’s is only 20 copies. 5 have to go to CDBaby’s warehouse
right off the bat. 1 is held by CDBaby as the master for creating the MP3’s for download and digital distribution to iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, etc. I should get 14 copies, but because of Production Overruns they usually send a couple of extra copies. In this case I got 5 extras. With Life and Death, I got 7 extras, and with Tip of the Sword, I got 5 Extras. The extras I will give away to my kids and a couple of close friends.
Because of the complexities of Sales Tax collection in Florida, I don’t sell any physical disks on my web site. All of the disks are sold on my CDBaby Store, and I plan on selling CD’s in local record stores where I just sell them the CD’s at wholesale and they handle the retail sales and sales tax collection.
So the box arrived and I opened it up to examine the contents:
All of the CD sides were printed correctly:
The outer cover is exactly the way I expected it to be:
The back cover came out way too dark, really, but it’s probably because they wanted 300 dpi images and I gave them 75 dpi images. Oh, well. But here’s how it came out:
Here’s how it’s SUPPOSED to look:
As you can see there is a lot more fine detail in the original that is lost in the print. I will try and see if I can modify the design for the next run of CD’s.
The CD itself and the back side of the 4 panel insert came out pretty good:
and the 4 panel insert INSIDE came out really awesome. It looks great in person:
All in all, I think this is a pretty professional looking, polished effort for a one man operation. I did all the music, designed the artwork, and created all of the online marketing and buzz for this myself.
I want to thank my good friend Bob Webb of Bob Webb Images for his photos that were used in the creation of the album art.
Love and Prosperity to you ALL! Have an AWESOME Day!
